Ed Tech Lip Sync Battle [Autobot vs. Decepticon Version]

It’s baaaaaack! The epic Ed Tech Lip Sync Battle from last year’s event is back and this year we’re ramping it up and making it duet-style. This highly entertaining and interactive session puts teams of attendees on the spot as they quickly create ideas for integrating technology into randomly selected subject areas and grade levels. The pair with the “least best” will be chosen to lip sync a random duet song for all to enjoy. Come prepared to learn, laugh and sing!

Get Energon For Your Brain (and Body)

This session is all about the power of movement. We’ll look at some of the latest research around movement and practice what we preach with a variety of improv activities that open up our creative pathways for Optimus….er…optimal learning.

Be as Curious as Bumblebee

Failure and risk-taking are a part of the learning process. During this interactive session, we’ll learn what barriers we create to stifle creativity and curiosity and how to overcome them, as well as take a few risks ourselves. It’s not how you fall down, it’s how you get back up!

Virtual Reality is More Than Meets The EYE

Want to bring Cybertron into your classroom? Or maybe just the Coliseum? In this session, we’ll explore and share a wide variety of VR tools and discuss effective ways to use them in the classroom.

Overcoming the Fear and Shockwave of Technology

How do we make learning TRANSFORMative when there are so many fears out there around technology? In this entertaining “therapy” session, we’ll look at the current research around social media, gaming, screens and more in an effort to avert our fears and empower ourselves and our kids going forward into the digital future.

Tools to TRANSFORM Learning In Your Classroom

There are so many different tools and apps for students to express and showcase their learning. In this rapid-fire session, we’ll look at 15+ different strategies and tools that teachers can use to expand student voice and choice in the classroom.

Carl Hooker has been a part of a strong educational shift with technology integration since becoming an educator. His unique blend of educational background, technical expertise, and humor make him a successful driving force for this change. As Director of Innovation and Digital Learning at Eanes ISD, he has helped spearhead the launch the LEAP program (Learning & Engaging through Access and Personalization), which put one-to-one iPads in the hands of all K-12 students in his 8000-student district. He is also the founder of “iPadpalooza”- a three-day “learning festival”in celebration of the shift mobile devices have brought about in education and beyond. He’s been named Tech & Learning Magazine’s 2014 Leader of the Year, a FutureReady Thought Leader and is a member of the Apple Distinguished Educator class of 2013. He’s also the author of a six-book series titled Mobile Learning Mindset, a guide for teachers, administrators, parents and others to support and embrace mobile learning in our schools.
