Facilitators
GaETC is seeking facilitators!
Facilitators are a valuable support to GaETC. This is a great opportunity to learn, share and engage with many great educators. If you would like more information about this volunteer opportunity, please contact
LaQuita Mainer, lmainer@gaetc.org
The task of a facilitator is to be present in concurrent session rooms and ensure everything goes smoothly for the presenter and attendees. Facilitators offer assistance to speakers before and during sessions, while ensuring the room is conducive to a successful presentation.
HOW TO BECOME A FACILITATOR
● Click on the link entitled “Facilitator Interest Form” and submit the requested information
● You will be sent an orientation video to view.
● Once all program sessions have been selected and scheduled, you will be sent a link to select five sessions you wish to facilitate.
● VOLUNTEERS WHO FACILITATE A MINIMUM OF FIVE CONCURRENT SESSIONS WILL HAVE THEIR CONFERENCE REGISTRATION FEE WAIVED.
● Facilitators will be accepted on a first come, first chosen basis.
What is Required During The Conference?
● On the first day of the conference there will be a mandatory in-person orientation session.
● Arrive at each of your assigned concurrent sessions at least 10 minutes before the session begins. You should take this into consideration when you are selecting the sessions you want to facilitate. You want to be sure you are able to get from one location to another in an ample amount of time.
● You should introduce yourself to the presenter and the audience and offer any assistance they may need. If they have technical issues, get the attention of a nearby committee or technical team member. Be sure to stand near the door prior to the beginning of the session. This will help with monitoring the flow of traffic and ensure the number of attendees does not exceed capacity. Facilitators must wear a vest so that they are easily recognizable by presenters, attendees, and committee members.
● It is also helpful to sit near the door during the presentation. If the session is full you will need to flip a “Session Full” sign on the door. Once the session is over, flip the sign back on the other side.
● Be professional. As a facilitator, attendees will naturally associate you with the conference. Everything you say and do will reflect upon the conference. Therefore, facilitators should be attentive during sessions and not do anything to distract from presentations.
